Ka‘a I Ka Wiwo‘ole: Brave Enough From the Frontlines of Our Climate Resilient Futures uplifts girl and women-led climate justice in Hawaiʻi to uplift our community’s resilience and build the skills, networks, and passion to champion climate justice together. This multigenerational training and mentorship program supports women and girls’ full power in culturally-responsive ways that honors identity, creativity, and energy to create the most just futures we can imagine.

Program Objectives
- Begin the first girl-led climate emergency response toolkit for Hawai’i.
- Provide leadership development and scaling opportunities to kaikamahine and their wāhine mentors through culture-based solutioning.
- Amplify community resilience through Hawai’i-serving organizations to address climate change, environmental injustices, legacy pollution, and disaster risk reduction.
- Create an informal network of girls and community leaders who will champion climate justice in their own frontline neighborhoods, at school, and with their other civic affiliations to accelerate climate resilience through gender equity.
Participants
We are committed to creating an inclusive community of learners and are devoted to creating an equitable environment for diverse voices to be heard.
Program participants to be prioritized for recruitment will be: BIPOC Girls residing across the Hawaiian Islands aged 12 – 18.
At ICP, we reference the Building Bridges, Not Walking on Backs A Feminist Economic Recovery Plan for COVID-19 by the Hawaiʻi State Commission on the Status of Women gender inclusive references for girls+ and women+ to women, girls and people who identify as women, including trans* women, and who identify as femme, nonbinary and/or genderfluid.
Mentorship
Multi-generational learning are core values to ICP’s work. Mentors help us uplift and support participants to bring their own ideas to life in creative and refreshing ways as they navigate important life milestones.
Mentors in this program help foster support for participants throughout the program and beyond.
